It's even more ironic that Yuji Naka got inspiration for Sonic the Hedgehog from Mickey Mouse, and now all of a sudden Amy Rose is now being voiced by the actress who voiced Minnie Mouse. That's more than ironic right there. XD

Actually I believe Naoto got his inspirations for Sonic from Santa Clause, MJ and Bill Clinton. I could kind of understand maybe a tiny bit of inspiration from Mickey Mouse but overall I feel his designs were based more on other sources. It's just the simplistic style that makes it so similar to Mickey. Regardless I agree it's less ironic and more of a coincidence.
