So, what kind of texture do you imagine the hedgehogs and other similar characters to have? I've always imagined their skin as a kind of smooth, shiny plastic-like surface, but i'm surprised when many writers and even some fan artists depict them as having fur, rather than their skin having the color and texture we see them as having.... i always assumed it was their skin that looked like that, especially as those who explicitly have fur, like Tails, Blaze etc. look rather different. There's also a few characters, Rouge most notably, who are on the fence between the two categories....
Neither smooth, nor furry. Probably a bit in between.
I've always considered them furry, but kinda like a 'down' type of fur. Y'know, like penguins, except fur instead of feathers. This would also explain why most males in the Sonic series don't wear clothes.
Agree with SolWolf on this. An Otter is the closest thing I can think of.
Well also depends on the artist. Compare TC Amy Untold and Palcomix. TC uses more fur detail even Sonic chest has fur texture. Palcomix sticks with with the orignal art. Smooth for Sonic just following the orignal art most of time. Another example are very own Raian his sticks little to orignal art but adds his own touch some characters he adds little fur.
To me adding fur kinda added details some people dont like details so they do smooth or little of it. Do I make any sense to anyone
